Note: Nebraska law protects volunteer firefighters and medical personnel from disciplinary action against their employer if they arrive late to their job due to responding to an emergency incident.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
- Turn in application to station (7629 Park Drive, Ralston) prior to posted deadline in order to be considered for that class. Ralston Fire holds applications for one year.
- Background Check is mandatory for all applicants.
- Panel Interview is pass/fail basis (70% minimum) conducted with members of the department, including the Training Chief and President.
- Physical Agility testing for Firefighter/EMS applicants and separate EMS Only test must be completed within the allotted time. Two attempts allowed.
- Occupational Health Exam is contracted with CHI Health Bergan Mercy physicians in order to ensure that all applicants are fit for duty.
- Approval by the Membership is motioned and passed by the member body to bring and swear-in on probationary members.
Applicants with no prior experience who successfully complete the applicant process will be brought on the department as a Probationary Member during the April or October business meeting (Second Tuesday).
